A new invention

Since I am still trying to figure out the cake my grandma made as my boyfriend visited Germany, I created a new recipe. I thought I will try the Redwine cake "Rotweinkuchen". But since my boyfriend doesn't like redwine and we anyway didn't have an open bottle, I decided to change the recipe a little. There it is and it seems like all the people in my household like it.

Coke Cake:                                                                      Cola Kuchen
2 cups flour                                                                       250 g Mehl
few drops concentrate vanille                                            1 Packchen Vanillin
2 tablespoons Coco                                                          ein bischen Kakao
1 cup whipped butter                                                        200 g butter (aufschaumen)
4 eggs                                                                               4 Eier
1 tablespoon Baking Powder                                            1 Packchen Backpulver
1/2 cup coca cola (diet)                                                    200 ml Coca Cola
1 cup sugar                                                                       150 g Zucker
cinnamon                                                                          1 teeloffel Zimt

First mix the butter with the sugar and then put the eggs, vanilla, coco, baking soda, coke, and cinnamon in. Afterwards use a spoon to mix the flour into the dough.
302 Fahrenheit for 50 to 60 minutes.
Use a rec-tangled high form to bake it. A form where you usually bake bread in it.

Another quick German recipe!

This is a recipe my aunts like to make. It is a kind of a salad but really rich in taste and I guess it also has some calories, since mayonnaise is included. Other than that is is actually really healthy.

 Layered Salad "Schichtsalat"

Ingredients:
2-3  poles of leek
1 package of ham (around 10 slices)
 2 cans of corn
2 cans of pineapple
3-5 apples
2 eggs (hard boiled)
pepper
salt
nutmeg

Preperation:
First of all take a big bowl where you can see through. This will make a good impression.
The bottom layer will be the corn, afterwards the pineapple, ham, apple, eggs and last but not least the leek on the top. Now you take 4 to 5 tablespoons of mayonnaise and put it on top as a flat layer. For the taste you add some pepper, slat, and nutmeg

TIP:
To make it more healthier you can use organic fruits and a light mayonnaise. Some people like it also with some shredded cheese on top.
Guten Appetit! Bon appetit!

Time to cook and Time to tell you the recipe

Although school is really intense, I had some time to exercise and cook some german food.
You should try it. It's called "Kartoffelpuffer" potato fritter.
Easy and fast:

Kartoffelpuffer "Potato Fritter"
7 big potato's
4 eggs
salt, pepper and nutmeg

PREPARATION:
First peel the potato's then shred them really small and push the water out by hand. You have to take a handfull of the shredded potato's and push the liquid out. Afterwards mix it with the eggs, salt, pepper and nutmeg, put oil in a pan and fry them goldish brown.
Best taste with applesauce (maybe even homemade)
                                                          ENJOY, BON APPETIT!!!

Overwhelming school start!

The first week of class is over and I was a little overwhelmed. It will be a lot of work, but it's worth it.
I am looking forward to my major classes. The fun part is that I have to work at a hotel for a few hours and also get an interview at any hotel around Denver.
That will be good for my future.
Enjoy your semester and tell me about you!
I will let you updated with my busy life at school and work.
Have fun!!

My first day of school

Today, was my first day of school. I am taking 5 classes and I am really excited. The teacher's seem like fun.
If I am honest I was a little overwhelmed. I do my best do accomplish all those classes with a good grade. That means work and studying, sometimes a little sleep and nothing else.
Yeah I will do it.

How I became fascinated with America!

Today I want to tell you about my experience here in America. To talk about how everything started and why I traveled so far away from home to begin a big incredible journey. Take a relaxing seat and enjoy.
It all started as I decided to go to England and work in a hotel to increase my English language skills. My colleague in the travel office told me that she has friends in America, Colorado who are looking for an aupair. I thought that would be an amazing thing to do. America!WOW! I just knew the USA from the movies.
A friend of mine, who is amazing in english, helped me to get everything straighten up and soon enough I was sitting in the airplane on the way to New York. In New York I received my aupair training. Finally I met my family, who liked me right away and I felt at home by an instant. As I lived there for a while I became really good friend with a girl from France and we spend a lot of time with each other and our host childs. I had an incredible year of traveling, family and friends. Therefore I stayed for a second year where I met a really nice guy. We spend a lot of time with each other. I also enjoyed the time with his family, especially his sister and her husband from Peru, who introduced me to everyone. Too soon arrived the time and I had to leave. I decided to absolve my "Fachhochschulreife" (advanced technical college entrance qualification) in Germany. My twin sister was the key to get into that school. During the year in Germany I was still in touch with my friend from France and the friends I made in America, especially that nice boy.  My friend and I developed an idea to go back and study in America. That was an incredible unrealistic dream at that point. But we held on on that idea and I started to work many hours to get the money together to study in America. I didn't have enough, but I didn't let go of my dream. Family members heard about my crazy idea and unexpectedly decided to help me. My uncle, my aunt, my grandma and my sister pitched in some money to make my dream come true. My dream turned into reality. Unbelievable, I am sitting here right now in front of my computer and writing from Colorado, USA. I am living with my now boyfriend together at his sister's house, since he is still going to college as well. My next big step is to finish my college degree here in Colorado. I love the college here and I love the people. Every day is a special gift for me. All my supportive friends and family members back home in Germany are part of this dream as well. Without any of my family or friends in Germany I couldn't have done it.
